Celebrate Legendary Holidays at Westin La Cantera!

The Westin La Cantera Resort has expanded its holiday celebrations this year. We've added more complimentary activities for the entire family, enhanced Legendary Holidays and teamed up with San Antonio's Marine Corps Reserve's "Toys for Tots" Program. A donation station will be set up at the resort for visitors to drop off an unwrapped toy. Beginning in December, daily activities will include ornament making, pine cone decorating, as well as our new nature trail's Living Holiday Tree. Kids will have an opportunity to make "green" ornaments for the tree - while learning about keeping nature...natural. Daily. Decorating: 1:00 - 3:00 pm; Visit Holiday Nature Tree with our kids club: 3:00 - 4:00 pm. Holidays Folklorico, also new in 2009, will be in our Esparza Library, which will be decorated to reflect La Posadas, complete with tree, décor, as well as authentic Mexican hot chocolate "champurrado" and pastries. Daily. Storytelling: 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. Legendary Holidays celebrates its 11th year of bringing Texas legends to life with a host of local carolers, an authentic Texas storyteller and a flurry of the only guaranteed snow to be found in South Texas this season. Authentic cowboy storyteller "Makin' Dust" leads guests on a walking tour, including a legendary campfire, all the while recounting legends of Texas holiday lore and tales. The event concludes with the story of a legendary snowfall. Legendary Holidays runs from December 13 to December 24 and is free to the public. Complimentary after-event activities have been expanded to include ornament making, pine cone and cookie decorating. Also, Santa Claus will be stopping by to get those special holiday wishes! Tour begins at El Fortin Lawn: 5:15 pm. After event activities, including Santa Claus: 6:30 - 8:00 pm. For our older holiday guests, try one of our "Farm-to-Glass" bubbly libations for the holidays, including Jalapeno Bubbly, Pomegranate Arillus Real and Rio Grande Mimosa - all named after the Texas produce they feature.
